Want to Move to Another Country? Follow these 7 steps
If you've been thinking about moving to another country, you're not alone.
US citizens around the country are moving overseas for work, affordable cost of living, and to meet new people.
Step 1: Research the country
Do you know what holidays the country observes? What about their laws and politics? Reading up on the country's history is a must, too. Checking general weather trends and cost of living will also be helpful as you prepare for your move.
Step 2: Start managing your finances
You'll want to start calculating some of the costs associated with moving and create a budget to help you track your spending.
possible costs to prepare for:
- Truck rental for moving furniture - Passport (if you don't have one yet) - Visa fees - Plane ticket - Deposit & first month's rent - Start-up costs for furnishing and decorating your new home
Step 3: start learning the language
Learning the language will help you integrate into the country you're moving to, as well as increase your chances of meeting new people and sparking friendships.
You'll need the following: - Degree certificates - University transcripts - Social security card - Birth certificate - Drivers license
Step 5: apply for your visa
The type of visa depends on where you move abroad and your reason for moving. Your visa may be sponsored by your employer if you're moving to be an English teacher or if it's part of your job.
If you're a freelancer, some countries even offer special Digital Nomad visas!
